Objectives:

To increase flow in the Canadian River and its' tributaries within the Lake Meredith watershed
To increase water quality in the Canadian River
Create better habitat for the Federally listed Arkansas River Shiner

Results of Aerial and Hand Application:

One acre of salt cedar can use up to 3 to 7 acre feet of water per year
We have treated over 21,000 acres of salt cedar, which accounts for approximately 95% of the salt cedar on         the Lake Meredith watershed
That is approximately 63,000 to 147,000 acre feet of water previously used by salt cedar per year
CRMWA will continue salt cedar maintenance as needed

How are we going to monitor the project?

Continue conducting flow measurements
Continue measuring shallow monitoring wells
Continue observing vegetation monitoring sites
Continue chemical analysis of the water in the River

Aerial treatment by helicopter

Ground treatment by hand sprayer
